Ignatian Spiritual Exercises

Spiritual Journey

30 day retreat / in 10 day chunks / 19th Annotation – in daily life

30 day Retreat

The 30-Day Retreat is a form of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. This retreat will help a person who wants to grow in union with God as a disciple of Jesus Christ and discern their call in life.  The retreat, in the form of meditation and contemplations, is rooted in traditional Christian practice and in the scriptures.  Four hours each day is the usual pattern, together with reflection periods to take note of what is happening.

Applicants are expected to have made at least one eight-day silent directed retreat, be currently in spiritual direction, engage in regular prayer, be comfortable using Scripture in their prayer, and be capable of maintaining the silence that is important for this retreat.

The retreat is made in the home of Reuben and with a large double room and full board, access to a large parkland area and the local parish churches. It is a retreat that is silent with a meeting with the director each day for an hour.

To register an interest please email Reuben with your expression of interest including the details listed below:

Pray as you go

In Three 10 day chunks

It is often hard to get aweay for 30 days and leave life behind so a way of taking the Spiritual Exercises is in 3 10 day chunks over a number of years.

This is being offered at St Michael’s Priory beginning at 9:30am on Monday 28 May and ending at 4:30pm on Wednesday 6 June 2018.

Bookings are made directly with the Priory HERE and the director will need to receive your written material a month before the start of the retreat.

A typed autobiographical sketch telling us about the important persons and events in your life and your faith journey. This will help us to know you better, and understand your desire to make this retreat at this time. In your autobiographical sketch please address the following:

19th Annotation

The 19th Annotation is a method of taking the Spiritual Exercises in ‘daily life’. The retreatant meets with the Director each week for an hour and sets aside a period of prayer in their own life setting each day during the week.

This way of working through the exercises usually takea a year and a committment must be made to meet with the director each week.

Some people find this a very valuable way of working with the excersies when they have domestic and work committments which do not make a longer term residential retreat possible.

If you are interested in taking the exercises in this way please contact Reuben and make an appointment to discuss this mode for you and your setting.
